An evening of elegance and virtuosity, Concertos by Candlelight features one of the most popular and iconic piano concerti of all time, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor. Russian-American soloist Olga Kern comes from a family of musicians with direct links to Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. She was the first woman to win the Gold Medal at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and has established herself as one of her generation’s great pianists.

It would be difficult to find a more exhilarating work for violin than Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. It will be played by our own concertmaster, Routa Kroumovitch, who was born in Latvia and was chosen as a child to study with the preeminent violinist David Oistrakh at the Moscow Conservatory. This technically virtuosic concerto will leave you breathless.
