Bach Festival Society Features Beethoven and Masterworks in the 86th Season
(Orlando, FL - July 28, 2020) – The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park announces its 86th season as the Society continues its mission “to inspire the human spirit through great music featuring powerful choral and orchestral performances and innovative programming.” The season has been carefully planned to keep our artists and patrons safe, and alternative contingency plans are in place should they be needed. New this season, the Society will digitally stream its performances. In-person performances will follow CDC and state guidelines of distancing and reduced capacity, as well as following policies set forth by Rollins College.
“What hasn’t changed is our commitment to making music of the highest quality for you, whether in-person or digitally. We look forward to bringing you another inspiring season,” said Artistic Director and Conductor John V. Sinclair.
Programming highlights include works by Dvořák, Lauridsen, and Barber (May 2, 2021) and pianist Adam Golka performing all 32 Beethoven sonatas over nearly three weeks in October (Oct 1-18, 2020), continuing our celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. Additional visiting artists include the Diaz Trio (Nov 19, 2020), and the incomparable a cappella groups Voctave (Dec TBD) and Voces8 (Feb 27, 2021).
The 86th Annual Bach Festival is scheduled for Feb 5–Mar 1, 2021, and will feature a variety of stunning performances, beginning with our timely Spiritual Spaces; subscriber-favorite Concertos by Candlelight: Scandinavian Romantics with Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto in d minor, Op. 47 and Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor, Op. 16 (Feb 13, 2021); American Spirituals and Folk Songs (Feb 21, 2021); an afternoon of glorious Bach Cantatas (Feb 28, 2021), and much more.
The Bach Festival Society’s other annual events will also continue this year. The Insights & Sounds series promises to enlighten and delight classical newcomers and aficionados alike. Insights & Sounds: Sweet on Suites and Serenades on November 5 will highlight some of the finest instrumental chamber repertoire in the classical literature. In December, our “A Classic Christmas” concerts continue.
Limited tickets will be available for previous subscription holders during a presale period. Tickets will go on sale to the general public at a later time. In light of seating restrictions due to COVID-19, season subscription packages will not be available this year.
