(Orlando, FL – April 27, 2019)— This week, the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park announced 18 programs and numerous international guest artists for its upcoming 85th anniversary season, which starts in September. During the 2019-2020 season, the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra will perform seven of the most monumental works in the Classical repertoire, including Haydn’s The Creation (Oct 26-27, 2019), Mendelssohn’s Elijah (April 25-26, 2020), Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem and Dvořák’s Symphony from the New World (Feb 15-16, 2020), and J.S. Bach’s Mass in b minor (Mar 1, 2020). Guest artists will include pianist Sergei Babayan, guitarist Paul Galbraith, organist Stefan Kiessling, Quink Vocal Ensemble, and the Díaz Trio. The 85th Annual Bach Festival, which attracts concert goers from around the world, is scheduled for Feb 7-Mar 1, 2020, and will commemorate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with an all-Beethoven concertos program featuring pianist André Watts and violinist Soyoung Yoon.

“This is a milestone season for us, and we wanted it to be big, bold, and exciting,” said Dr. John V. Sinclair, who will celebrate 30 seasons as Artistic Director of the Society in 2020. “This season will be filled with heroes, history, and some of the most monumental Classical works of all time. Every month we will share at least one major masterpiece with our audience.”

Several of the Society’s popular annual events will also continue this year: The growing Insights & Sounds series promises to give fresh perspectives on classical works and composers, including one program entitled “The Greatest Composers (You’ve Never Heard Of).” In December, the traditional “A Classic Christmas” concerts will continue, as well as the Morse Museum-sponsored “Christmas in the Park” concert in Winter Park’s Central Park.

The Society is currently renewing subscriptions, and new subscription packages will be available beginning June 1. Single tickets will be available beginning August 1. Information at https://bachfestivalflorida.org or 407-646-2182.
