Bach Festival Society Performs Haydn’s The Creation
(Orlando, FL - October 10, 2019) This month, the Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra will perform Joseph Haydn’s masterpiece The Creation. The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park will present two performances—Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m.—in Knowles Memorial Chapel on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park. Concert tickets can be purchased for $25–$69 each or as part of a subscription package. More information is available at BachFestivalFlorida.org or by calling the Box Office 407-646-2182.
Artistic Director and Conductor John Sinclair describes The Creation as “Haydn’s imaginative musical depiction of earth’s creation that begins with an unexpected flash of ‘light’ and then proceeds to enliven the story with unbridled joy and gentle humor, all while displaying his profound faith through majestic expression.” Haydn considered The Creation one of his greatest challenges and most profound accomplishments.
Featured soloists on the performances are soprano Clara Rottsolk, tenor Anthony Ciaramitaro, and bass-baritone Kevin Deas. All three soloists are nationally recognized and are making return trips to Winter Park after impressive performances in past seasons for the Bach Festival Society. Mr. Ciaramitaro has the distinction of being a Rollins alumnus.
Rollins College provides a premier setting suited for the Bach Festival Society Choir and Orchestra to perform The Creation. Experiencing Haydn’s finest work while sitting in the original pews at Knowles Memorial Chapel is one of the delights of Bach’s 85th Anniversary Season.
