STEPHEN MUMBERT, BASS-BARITONE

Stephen Mumbert is quickly gaining attention on the concert and opera stage throughout the United States and England. Stephen was recently praised for being vocally, the most promising singer and for possessing an assured and stylish technique for his interpretation of the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Aldeburgh Festival in England.

Stephen earned his B.M. degree in voice performance at Stetson University and his M.M. degree in opera at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Recent performances have included Mozart’s Requiem with the Dakota Valley Symphony (which was broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television) and several appearances in Handel’s Messiah, including with the Oratorio Society of Minneapolis. Stephen’s operatic appearances include Bellini’s I Puritani with Minnesota Concert Opera, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Yeomen of the Guard with the Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company, Mozart’s Don Giovanni with First Coast Opera, and Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Dakota Valley Symphony. Stephen is performing the lead roles in two new opera projects, Herschel Garfein’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and Robert Aldridge's Sister Carrie, both staged with their respective Grammy award–winning composers in residence.

Mr. Mumbert is active in the Central Florida area as a voice adjunct professor for the Rollins College Department of Music and is a frequent guest soloist with the Messiah Choral Society of Orlando and the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park.
